The Busyness of Life

6.23.2009

How does life get so busy? I have been thinking about what all is on my plate this week and just how busy my life has been lately. Then I see this post, and this one, and this one. Oh, and this one. All about how busy we all are and the need to relax.
.
I wish I could spend some time here- the winner of the 2009 Southern Home Awards 'Best Outdoor Space'. Alys Beach is a little slice of heaven on Earth!

What is your secret to keeping up with the busyness of life? How do you relax and take time for yourself?

I was just thinking about this last night. We all have the same amt of time to work with and prioritize, but I don't think I'm budgeting mine very effectively. I'm reevaluating right now... Less do, do, do, I think. Going to start guarding our family downtime like a mama bear.

Thanks for the reminder. And yes, I'd love to hole up at this joint above. Aaahhhhh!

Ok, I think I could relax here! What a great place to unwind. I really like the chaise lounge chairs.

You know what's so funny, Brooke? I just spent 4 night in Mexico and it was a blast. But nothing, I mean nothing, gives me the peace and rest I need like a quiet time in the Word! 30 mintues with God can do more for my soul than 2 weeks away to an exotic location! I think the key is taking a little bit of time out every day to replenish your heart and mind and then you won't feel so crazed.
A REALLY wonderful study I just started is "A 30 day walk with God in the Psalms" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I highly recommend it. I just started it last night and it brought me more peace and joy than any other study I've done yet.
Have a great day!!!
xx

You already know my answer to this...but,
beginning my day with quiet time and devotional always makes my day more peaceful...no matter what's on the schedule.

Love you,
Mom

I think my husband and I should skip the smaller homes and just get one like those, yeah??

Perfect timing for your new post--trying to keep up with Liza my two year old, running my business and just being wife, mother, daughter etc. is exhausting. I try to remember what is most important in my life--family and keep that always centered. Everything has to rotate around and if a ball drops, so be it. I will live through it. As for relaxing--nothing can top a glass of wine, bubble bath, clean sheets and a great book--oh and it helps if your husband and kids are gone! HA

Those Southern Living shots are sooooo dreamy! I am going to Lake Tahoe this weekend, and I can't wait to slow down a bit!

I want to leave work right this second and just start relaxing on that patio. OH, and the lounge chairs in the last image are lovely! I love that they are such a different shape- so cute :)

Now that would be just perfect. Maybe bloggers beach weekend?

Oh I second Paula we need a bloggers beach weekend. I have a hard time trying to relax. I always have a to do list that is a million miles long, I want to do everything, I want to help everyone, etc. It's exhausting. We all just need to remember that nothing is that important. If it didn't get done today it can get done tomorrow and just breathe!
