Great Escape

12.21.2009

I'm planning on spending some time this week:
1- catching up on my favorite blogs
2- reading my stack of magazines
3- cleaning my house

Last night- I picked up the latest issue of Garden and Gun and loved seeing Suzanne Kasler's family room.

It's a room like this reminds me of how much I do love light, neutral colors.
.
But then image below is a reminder that I'm really liking a pop of charcoal/black these days. I love the light walls with the contrasting dark gray bookshelves. I still haven't decided about my front door but I do appreciate each of your ideas/comments!

I love these images. Let us know what you decide about the door, I think the black would be a nice pop of color, but I can understand your hesitation. At least with paint, if you don't like it, you can just re-paint it.

The gray on the bookcase is so inspiring - it makes mw want to pull out all of my books and get going with a paintbrush!

Love that first picture, so clean but also has so much texture. I never get sick of those grey shelves.

So pretty! I love the second one best - it seems so cozy while still being fresh.

I just love taking a day and reading through my magazines! It's so inspiring.

Love how simple and calm that room is. I also love that black door from post before! Too fun! Merry Christmas!

WOW! I thought that Suzanne wasn't going to publish any of the rooms in her new house yet. I saw the house last fall (Suzanne is my designer) and it is simply spectacular. I saw the house at night, though, so it is great to see her family room during the day - it is so light and airy! The chandelier was the first thing I noticed, it is so dramatic in the room.
