Glamorous and Alluring

I don't know if you have noticed- but I get a lot of my post titles from the title of the magazine article that I am posting about. Maybe I should work on that!

This is another bedroom that I came across in
Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles magazine.... I usually gravitate towards light colored walls but I loved the use of chocolate in this bedroom. And I really like the contrast it has with all of the white. Although it has more of that white carpet that I would be scared to walk on!

wanting to fill my closet with....

I was reading Two Ellie a few days ago and Paula inspired a quick lunch break run to J.Crew.... she posted a cute little spring ensemble... so I had to take a look at what they had. These were my favorites that I saw on my quick run through:

*Cotton-linen ottoman Aubrey jacket

*Crisp cotton plissé-strap dress

*ruffle favorite tank

*Meringue-sleeve top

*solid silk garland cami

I am also watching daily for this dress from Anthropologie to go on sale:

*lovelace manor shift dress

Okay, I think I'll stop there. My list could go on and on....

Pretty and Refined

Although I would be scared to walk on that white carpet... it sure makes for a beautiful room.

From Small to Spacious

There is something about small spaces that I just love. I don't know what it is about them.... I really enjoyed see photos of Chad Eisner's 900 sf bungalow in Santa Monica.

There is another small space that I fell head over heels for in a past issue of Domino (no words). I hope to put my finger on it so I can post it soon. I know it is something you have all seen.... but some things I can look at over and over and over.

Looking for Lucite?

I really like Lucite pieces used here and there.... I do not own any... but would love to figure out how to incorporate a piece into my "plain jane" style.

I loved the many different pieces that they showed in February's House Beautiful. The headboard is fabulous!

A Starting Point

I immediately took to this room when it first came out in Cottage Living a few months back (July/August 2008). You may remember this post about the secretary that I love.... taken from this article.

There are so many elements that I like.... the white walls, the black paint on the window sashes and doors, the warmth the rug adds to the room, the paintings above the mantel, the velvet-upholstered chairs, and of course the secretary turned bar!

Butler's Pantry

I love this butler's pantry... it screams "beach house" to me with the shelves painted Benjamin Moore's South Beach. Although I would be quite happy with it in my house here in Birmingham! One day....

Happy Monday!

Something fun to start off the week.... love the fabric on the chair, the mirrored bed, & the pink walls!

SummerHouse is owned by designer, Lisa Palmer. While living in Jackson, Mississippi- I used to love going in the little shop in Fondren. Due to a fire in it's old location in 2005- SummerHouse relocated to Highland Colony in Ridgeland in 2006. I haven't been to the new store- but have heard great things about it and have loved looking at the updated gallery online. Lisa Palmer has a wonderful style and I love how she mixes old and new.

SummerHouse was recently featured in the October issue of Elle Decor and this is what they had to say: "Lisa Palmer's fresh faced home-design store is a mecca of streamlined comfort. In the 6,700 square foot space, located near Jackson, fashionable furniture and accent pieces are available along with the services of a bevy of on-staff interior designers. The must-haves include cozy sofas by Mitchell Gold+Bob Williams (SummerHouse is the manufacturer's sole Mississippi retailer), stylish furniture by Oly, ceramics by Jonathan Adler, bed linens by Archipelago, and accessories by BoBo Intriguing Objects. Palmer also uses the shop to exhibit the work of established southern artists such as Paul Edelstein and Cathy Lancaster."

Cupcakes & Champagne

Thursday night we had a little birthday party for my friend, Sidney. It was such a fun night with the girls. The evening started with a small dinner party for 8 hosted by our friend Harriet- followed by a larger group for cupcakes & champagne. I was in charge of two of my favorite things: invitations & baking!

* harriet's table setting for the small dinner party

*invitation for the dessert party

*cupcakes (lemon, coconut, & chocolate buttercream)

*four of us gave Sidney this AnnieGlass platter in platinum (but square, not oval)

*a few of us at the party

Can't wait for the next party!

Dwell Studio

I love so many things by Dwell Studio. They have great linens, bedding, baby items...

One day while shopping in Table Matters- I fell in love with these napkins:

*22" aerial napkin

And soon after- I saw this pillow in Three Sheets:

I loved it but a $99 throw pillow wasn't (& still isn't) in my budget... so I started thinking about a friend who had recently made some pillows out of these napkins and they turned out great. I soon headed back to Table Matters and purchased the napkins to make new pillows for my wing backs and ended up with these:

*aerial napkins by dwell ($28 for two) and a down insert from Hancock Fabrics ($12) made each pillow $40 instead of $99! And even better- they were so easy to make!

I have been on the lookout for more great napkins because I am in need of new pillows for my sofa....
