My Weekend Project: Subway Tile

I went home last weekend to visit my family in Mississippi. I had mentioned to my dad about wanting to do white 3x6 subway tile on my backsplash in my kitchen. When he came to install my granite countertops a couple of years ago- we didn't do a backsplash because of the layout of my upper cabinets. My kitchen is an L-shape- but on one part of the L- there are no upper cabinets, so we had no where to transition a backsplash tile. But after seeing this photo- I have decided to tile the entire wall behind my sink (even though I have no windows on that wall):

He went out in his warehouse (fyi... he owns a flooring store) and found just what I needed. Five boxes of 3x6 white subway tile, thinset, grout, trowel. And a friend has a tile saw that I am going to borrow... so this weekend I plan to tackle this {free} project.

Designer Nancy Price

I remember Nancy Price from my designer days in Jackson, MS.... and I was reminded about her last weekend by one of my my sister's roommates who works for her. I pulled up Nancy's website and was excited to see some great projects.

Here is what she has to say:

I came across this house on the House Beautiful site and loved the details.

I am sure that many of the posts I have done have been posted on other blogs... but one of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was to have a record for the things that I love. I also try to remind myself that there are so many design blogs out there and we all read so many different ones.... so some people may be seeing things for the first time. That's just my little disclaimer!

Summer Simplicity

After Pink Wallpaper's "Neutral Settings" post yesterday... and coming across this house... it confirms my love for a neutral scheme! And this house confirms my love for summer and being at the lake (although I have never been to a "lake house" like this one)!
