And while on the subject of the nursery- imagine this:
creamy white walls with neutral bedding {white bumperpads w/ a linen cribskirt and a white coverlet w/ linen bedskirt for the twin bed in the room}
Here is the fabric that I'm using for the bedding (the one on the right will also be on my rocker/ottoman):
And now for the color. Now y'all know that I'm not a color person---- but I'm thinking I want a little bit since it's a nursery. Everything is neutral except:
crib & lantern: pale aqua
lamp for side table: yellow
maybe some simple artwork on the walls
That brings me to Amy Butler's August Fields fabric in the Coreopsis pattern. Here it is in peach (which works with the yellow/aqua combo I have going on):

And here it is in the yellow- again still works:

I would use this color/pattern for two 20" pillows for the twin bed- and maybe for a throw blanket to keep on the rocker.
With ALL of that said/in mind- which colorway do you like better? Or neither? While I know which one I'm leaning towards- I would love to hear your thoughts!

I loved that room too. The color is just fabulous.
Since you are not a color person I think the one on the right, not the peach. I think you would tire of the peach and the other one still gives the room its softness. IMOH Kathysue
Peach ,It has that perfect POP!
You know, I really like both. But if you want it to be soft colors, I would go with the aqua/yellow one (not peach). That said, they are both beautiful and would look great with your other choices.
I think you can use both. One can be used for trim.
I do love the aqua/yellow - but just thinking of all the things I would do with both makes me so inspired.
I adore Amy B. Textiles.

I love the direction you are going in. Can't wait to see it. I like the pop of orange believe it or not, but the yellow feels more like you. I am curios which you like better?
I can't wait to see how the nursery turns out! Based on everything you are saying I know it will be perfect. I love both fabrics, but I think for a nursery the yellow would be more calming... although the peach could be a fun accent in smaller amounts.
ohhh Amy Butler fabrics are dreamy! personally, I love that peach, but I go for color {and if you're using it sparingly for only 2 pillows and a throw, that's easily changed out anyhow}
lovely blog & inspiration photos =)
I like the peach, it adds a little something but I wonder if it would be too much color for you?
While I LOVE the peach based fabric, the aqua/yellow combo looks more like you and to me it is a little more gender neutral.
Love the use of Aqua with yellow, what fun.
aqua/yellow DEFINITELY.
What a fun closet office! I had one at our previous home but it looked nothing like that. . . I love the color.
I love your ideas! While I love the peach, I think the yellow keeps it soft and clean.
I love them both, but I think that the yellow colorway would be best for a nursery -- soothing, tranquil, relaxing. I die for that closet office! Can't wait to see the nursery come together! xxoo
I just found your blog today and became a follower...love the aqua blue color...I painted my bathroom this color a couple of months ago and love it. Come stop by sometime and say hi.
The yellow--if you are not a color person. My nursery was all white and flax linen. I thought I wanted that pop of color and ordered this accent fabric with color/print and it was too much. When all of the books, pink stuffed animals (we have a little girl) and other baby stuff is in there you will have plenty of color.
I love the peach! It's brighter and more fun.
Wish i can have a closet workspace! It's so pretty.
I love the aqua! As far as the pillows, I would say the one on the right (not the peach). I say that since you're trying to create a gender neutral nursery, right? (aren't you waiting to find out the gender of baby?). Anyway, since it's a floral pattern, the peach screams "girl" to me. Plus, I like the way the other is all your colors and no more colors - aqua, yellow and then the tans in the linen. I'm SO like that....always keeping it just the colors I'm using and always afraid to add more color! I'm so neutral, too. You and I have the same taste. Mia Beth's bedding is tan and ecru linen. I still have not sent you a pic. Will do that soon! I made her crib bedding! :)
I prefer the one on the right. It looks much more like you, and I think it would be really easy to grow tired of the peach one.
I love the peach one, well because its closest to orange of course :)
Oh can't you use both!? I love the subtleness of the yellow but the pop of color in the peach is pretty great. If I had to pick, I would go with the yellow - less "forced". Does that make sense? I think it's hard to make just a few pops of a bright color work. Though I love the peach. Okay - not helping. Can't wait to see your decision! Marija
All of your choices sound beautiful! I like them both, but if you aren't big on color I would go with the less bold one. But having said that, that peach fabric is so cheerful and pretty! Why not use them both in a patchwork, or make the pillow reversible, or you could even use one as an accent ruffle or piping?! I can also see framing a piece of whichever one you don't use! Either way you can't go wrong, they are both wonderful!
Kat :)
I love the peach, too. It's fun and playful. The yellow is sweet and kinda sleepy, which I suppose works for a nursery. :) But I'm a color person!
The peach really pops! I think it's clearly the winner here!
Hi, I've never commented before but just thought I would give my two cents about the color conundrum.
I love the yellow! They are both pretty but the yellow gives the a hint of color but doesn't shout at you when you walk in (just my opinion).
Love your blog and can't wait to see your finished nursery!
you know my vote - yellow/aqua - i like it because i feel like you can see more detailing in the pattern for some reason....
That is just too funny-- I just painted my daughter's room a light aqua color (Valspar's Babbling Creek) and I was looking to make her a headboard with the same Amy Butler fabric in the peach colorway. Once the fabric arrived, I wasn't as crazy about it.... it was very peach! I instead went with something else that I found at a local store. If I were you (since you aren't a color person), I'd go with the yellow/white colorway and then use pops of the light green and yellow for accents. It's going to be adorable!
I have a correction-- that is Valspars "Bubbling Creek". I am the one babbling it seems :)
Apparently you have 30 thoughts already :), but I like the yellow best. I love them BOTH, but I worry the orangey peach might be a trend that you'd be tired of in a year or so. Those soft colors, are never going to "go out." But what do I know about design?!
I really like them both...I'm not help at all! And I loved how they made a closet an office. Such a great use of space. -carlee
I think I've gotta vote yellow. They're both cute, but you may tire of the brighter pattern. Can't wait to see the bedding all together. That linen with the aqua is going to be sharp!
I've been HORRIBLE about commenting on your blog...but I still read every day :) Please forgive me.
I am so so excited for you and about this little baby. I am also glad you guys didn't find out. We're doing that for the second time, and it's so much fun.
I gotta vote for the yellow/aqua. I think it's most gender neutral, but I also just like it best. We did our nursery in grey, black, cream and white with a touch of red (i know, you'd hate it :) and I was surprised how easy it was to add in the pink when she arrived.
Also, I was at Home Goods on 280 and I saw a giraffe lamp that looked similar to the sconces from that nursery we all love (you know, the one with the birds on the ceiling?) Anyway, I thought about you because it had a yellow shade. Didn't you say you wanted to use a yellow lamp? Anyway, it was a bit too bright of a yellow, but the lamp itself was really cute. Thought I would let you know just incase you happen to be venturing out to the other side of the city. It's such a long drive!!
Sorry for the long comment! Hope you're feeling great!
I used practically the same white fabric for beckett's bumpers! Looked great, but not going to be able to use them for baby girl-they show everything! Make sure you get them made to be removable so you can wash them. Ours zipped on the pad like a slipcover.
I love the orange! But, orange is my softspot for color...

I just had to comment. I've got a very similar color theme going in our nursery. I can't wait to see what you come up with! We have to share notes- I've even used a quilted fabric for the bedding!
