FYI: Drop Cloths

3.04.2010

I've been working on the nursery this week. Walls have a fresh coat of Monterey White.
.
And the furniture has been painted White Dove.
.

And a little FYI. While painter's drop cloths might be a great (and inexpensive) option for curtains...
.
.
I do not recommend painting on them. The paint bled right through. In MANY spots since we were painting three pieces of furniture w/ the drawers spread out. This is a small glimpse of what I'm about to tackle..
.
Off to clean my wood floors. I'll be back soon!

Great job getting all that work done, but so sorry about the drop cloth mishap! Here's hoping clean up will go super fast!

oh no! Oh, and I've seen magic eraser discolor hardwoods that have sealant FYI. Is it latex or oil?

The furniture looks great, but that stinks about the floors! I hope it comes up easily.

Wow that really stinks! I hope it comes off easy. I am thinking of making curtains out of drop clothes.

Bummer, but at least the walls are painted, that is a great start and the furniture too. You are on your way!! I have a playroom re-do going on right now . I am still in the process of choosing the paint color. Luckily Hubby will be painting, I am a total mess when it comes to painting. You would not want me in your nursery with paint. Your floors would look soooo much worse, Trust me.Good luck with the removal on the floors, Kathysue

Yes, also goop off and at Home Depot the other day I needed one on one side it was lined in plastic or a type of plastic so not to go thru.
It worked great, as I was painting black with white carpet underneath.

Bummer! I kind of did the same thing in my bedroom last weekend (except the culprit was paint on the bottom of my shoe, hence why I like I paint barefoot). It came up pretty easily with a damp rag and little light finger-nail scratching. Good luck!

Oh no! I hope it comes up!

Yikes, but thanks for the tip! I so hope it all comes off. Good luck with the nursery - can't wait to see the final reveal.

I've had lots and lots of paint on the wood floors here...I'm a messy painter! But it always comes off with some fingernail scratching or wet rag. Love the historic Monterey White! Trina

Such a bummer! I'm sorry! Well, the room is coming together beautifully...that's an upside. Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering how they would take paint!

I hate painting. We have three cans of paint in our basement that we are using to paint our upstairs. They have never been opened because we never find time to do it.
