keeping it simple

5.20.2010

I love this Fire Island, NY beach cottage that belongs to Alex Bates- the creative director of West Elm. There are so many things I like about it- the contemporary mixed with old, all of the white (esp the high gloss white ceilings), the old-style cedar shingles, and even the blue kitchen floor!

Alex's house definitely makes me long for a beach cottage...

Brooke,

You are up so early. I guess you are just getting ready! I was 27 weeks yesterday, and I cannot believe how quickly the time has just flown by! I never got back with you on the calling cards. I wanted a set for just Hattie Hicks and one for just Lilly Hicks. I also wanted one set with both names. Are you still feeling like doing them. Just let me know. I just love to look at your blog, AND the nursery is wonderful!

what a gorgeous home. I have been looking for a side table like the one on the porch, love it.

Love it as well - makes me want to move right in and the outside is as gorgeous as the inside.

I love this house, wish it was my weekend house. Or just my regular house. And of course I loved getting a peek in W.E. execs place!

That home epitomizes Fire Island, it has been years since I have been there, but the feeling those images give you are the same feeling the island gives you when you are there.

The pics in the bathroom have given me a great idea. I love this place. We're looking for an apartment now and I'm really wishing I could find a place that is painted such a crisp white.

Its funny that he is the creative director, because I really dont see anything that looks West Elm-ish in his place. But I do love it!
