Caldwell Flake

7.14.2010

I love that I live in a town that overflows with talent. There are so many great designers and architects that live and work in Birmingham, Alabama.

For those you who may not be familiar with Caldwell Flake- I thought I would introduce you to some of their work.

I love that there is a little bit of everything. A little bit of color and pattern for some... as well as some neutral and calm for others.

WOW! Those rooms are amazing. I'm going to have to look at them a few more times to soak it all in.

I know I'm not a designer, but I know when something is pleasing to the eye and these ARE! I especially love the room with the beds on ropes. I saw something similar in a magazine and asked JT if he could make that for our kid's rooms when they are older. :) These have such class, but I love how they still have a little bit of southern charm....such as the monograms. Did you know that my mother-in-law was once on the phone with Pottery Barn (they called b/c the name she wanted to monogram wouldn't fit on her order) --- She told them she would just get it monogramed somewhere local. They knew she was in Mississippi and said "are you sure you can find some where down there to do that for you?!" HA! Hello! We monogram everything! That's a blog post in itself. :)

Wow! I love the whimsy, the color, the use of oversized accessories - they show such imagination, and yet somehow manage to ground themselves in reality.

LOVE it with the exception of the scary animal heads. I would have nightmares. And I want a vintage laundry cart.
