We moved to Birmingham a little over four years ago when Michael finished medical school so that he could do his residency at UAB. It's hard to believe that the long road of residency is coming to an end. We've loved our time here and it was such a hard decision once it came down to do we stay in Birmingham or do we move back home to Mississippi? After much thought and prayer.... we will be moving back home to Mississippi. We'll probably move next June, so we've started our search for a new home there..One of my dear designed obsessed friend sent me this house yesterday. It {somewhat} resembles the one that we've been looking at and I loved to see the changes that this house went through. It's a lot of photos--- but you need to see the before and afters. My wheels are turning.....

whoa nelly. that house is awesome!
i'm sad that you all will be moving, but happy you'll be back home. there's definitely a part of me that longs for that.
hope you can find your dream house! i know it will be fabulous...especially once you get your hands on it!
I was thinking about your residency time coming to and end. I actually forget you are married to a resident. I feel like he is so much further along than Bryan. We have 2.75 years to go:) + fellowship I'm sure. Seems like forever, but it's flying by. LOVE that house. It's so you. I love to see how far the dollar goes in the south!
I meant an end. I need to seriously spell check my blog comments.
Talk about amazing inspiration for a uber-trad house! I love what they did with it. Excited to see what you wind up with. I wish we could move right now! We, unfortunately, have to wait for the market to turn...
That is just breathtaking! I bet it took them so long to get all this accomplished but what a result! Can't wait to see what houses you look at!
That is amazing! What a gorgeous home! Happy for yall that you are getting to go back home but we will miss you in Bham!
All I can say is that life is SO great after residency. My husband finished this past July... you're definitely in the home stretch!
That house is absolutely beautiful and so inspiring!
Good luck w/ the move! It is so hard to make those decisions. My husband and I have been going back and forth on the moving topic for a few years now. It is rough.
What a gorgeous inspiration! Good luck with your house-hunting in Mississippi. They've got some gorgeous homes to choose from (I grew up in Memphis so I've been to MS a LOT)!
WOW. That is an incredible transformation. Why do I live in such an expensive city?
Congrats to your husband! One of my best girl friends just finished her fellowship (she did two additional years after her residency). It is such an exciting (and scary) time.
Holy cow!! That is some makeover!! Can't wait to see what you find to call home..good luck!!
This is one of my favorite homes from TH, I think I have every image saved to each file for our future homes.
Best of luck with your move and I can't wait to see what you do with your new home once you find it.
That home is hands-down one of my absolute favorites! Good luck on the house search!!
That house is amazing, I vote for this one!!! : ) Good luck on your house search, big decisions!
Love these images!
Well M'ssippi welcomes you! What part? I'm in Vicksburg - first summer in M'ssippi and I'm melting. :)
I know your wheels are turning! You will have fun buying a new one or renovating an old one. I know it will be beautiful! Congrats on finishing his residency. I have such respect for our family's doctors!
omg omg omg. this house is GORGEOUS! it is picture perfect. my husband is finishing up his last year of rotations, next year he'll be starting on the residency track. I know the feeling of a long road...so much to look forward too, though!
Love it. All of it. It's a happy home and that is the most important thing for a home. Wherever it is located!
That house is fabulous! Your new house will be fabulous too! Good luck on moving back home. One of my best friends just told me last week that they are moving to Birmingham. I am heartbroken for me but excited for her.
Wow!! I love this transformation. I can't imagine moving into a home that was already "done." I need the creative challenge!!
wowzer! What a beauty! Bet you'll find one just as beautiful!
congrats to your hubby! what a beautiful home; good luck with your move!
Congrats! It must be so nice to settle down somewhere more permanent! My DH is starting fourth year, so we're anxious about the residency process right now. (And I'm anxious about moving. What am I going to do with my massive amounts of home decor items?)
That entry transformation was saved to my inspiration folder! How exciting to move back home and to start your search for a home. May you find exactly what you're looking for - what an exciting time for your family!

SOOO happy you signed!! SOOOO hoping there's a stipend involved ;)! Jeremiah still hasn't signed the dang contract. HOWEVER, the pictures of that Alabama lake house from Food and Wine is precisely what I want to build. I emailed the link to Jeremiah and my architect best friend :)
this place is absolutely gorgeous. I know whatever you do get it will be beautiful. Love your current home and I am sure I will love the next. Of course I will have to see it in person to be sure :) I will miss you Brooke.

Love love love these photos!
I love that house!
Wow, that is a beautiful home. I'm obsessed with it. I remember when my dad finished his residency in AZ, they were deciding whether to stay or move to a different state. Luckily they moved to a different state so we wouldn't have to roast in the hot Arizona sun. But, to this day, I still love going back there.

How much do I love this house??? :) I'm so excited for your house hunting. (I think you know I'm a total nut and love moving.) I can't wait to see what you find!
You've got my wheels turning! Good luck with house hunting. It can be draining but also very fun to think of the possibilities. Happy Hunting!
Brooke, congrats on the upcoming move back to Mississippi! Whatever house you end up in next, I know it is sure to be beautiful when you are done with it. And I loved that house too & pulled a ton of pages for inspiration images :)
