How do you display....

11.18.2010

the Christmas cards you receive? I've already had a lot of people order Christmas cards from me this year. So many people are on the ball. I am impressed. But it made me think about what happens to them once people receive them. Do you keep yours? Display them for others to see? Toss to the side? I'd love to know.

Great photos & ideas,I love this post...

In the past I have added mine to my Christmas tree, as I get them.. Last year I added them to a wreath that hung on my pantry door.

I try to do something different every year. But, last year I made a college of all the photo cards on the door to our landry room. It looked really cool. Wish I had a picture of it. Sometimes, I attached ribbons to the ones I love and put them on our smaller (fake) christmas tree as a "memory tree" because I also put all our past christmas cards on there, too. I love these photos, there are some really great ideas.

I am not one for things on the fridge, but holiday cards are the exception. Since we usually entertain a lot during the holidays and everyone is always in the kitchen I find it to be a fun focal point and always a great conversation starter! Now, when do I send mine out????

I hang mine. I usually hang them on ribbons that are on the back door. I love being able to look!

As a card designer, you know I love this post! I'm so busy making cards, that I don't take a ton of time to display mine. I put them all in a basket and flip through them daily...then my girls hang their favorites in the hallway on something that looks similar to what's hanging in image #2.

GET THIS: I know someone who has wallpapered the entire inside of her garage with years of Christmas cards!

I hang ribbon from the walls in my kitchen and tape all the photo cards to it. I have done this for many years. Now whenever people stop by at the holidays, they go directly to where I hang the cards and look at them.

I tape them all over my fridge. It's ugly, but beautiful at the same time. Then all my Boston friends can make fun of the southern holiday cards. I had no idea photo cards was a southern thing!

I display them. Usually I drape twine across our front hall mirror and attach them with laundry pins. I then keep the peeps we are close to on our side of our fridge after the holidays :) I like the full fridge idea though. may change it up. We get an insane amount.

oh, what do you do? Please lie and say you keep ours for a bit though if you happen to toss them :)

I love hearing everyone's ideas! I had my husband cut a wreath out of plywood that I covered with cork material. I added a giant red and white polka dot bow and just tacked up the cards. It works great and I use it year after year.

I put all the cards we are get in the current season in a lacquered tray on the coffee table in our family room (so people who visit us can go through them). Then at the end of the year, I tie them up with a pretty red satin ribbon. I have bundles for every year I have been married (12) and I place them under our Christmas tree (before we have any present to put under it). Then at least one night during December, my husband and I sit down with a glass of wine and pick a year or two to go through. I am always amazed at how young everybody looks and how much cards have changed over the years. Some of the children are grown and married now! Very fun tradition for us. So, if you have ever sent me a Christmas card, I still have it! www.interiordesignmusings.blogspot.com

I hang them with tiny paperclips down long ribbons that hang in front of a mirror. I keep each year's cards in our holiday bins. Love the idea of going back someday and looking through the cards. --who we are still in touch with, who has entered our lives. Kind of like keeping a 'lazy' holiday scrapbook. ;)
