a little vacay...

Michael and I just returned from spending a few days in Napa Valley. I had never been to the wine country... and let's just say that it has moved high on my list of places to visit again. I loved it. I sure missed Collins--- but it was great to get away for some R&R with Michael.

Here are a few shots from Silver Oak Cellars:

And a few from Reynolds Family Winery:

And here we are on top of the hill at wine tasting of
Relic wines.
If you've never been... I would highly recommend adding Napa Valley to your list of places to visit!

Kiwi Wood Werks (and a guest post)

I've have been meaning to share this new site with you for awhile. One of my childhood friends, Cathy, and her husband have started a custom frame business called Kiwi Wood Werks & Designs.
Here are a few of my favorites from their site:

Here are your options for trim and edge details:

And here
is a link to see their color choices. There are so many great options. If you are interested in their work, please email kiwiwoodwerks@gmail.com. They also have a FB page here!
Cat was so sweet to feature me today on her personal blog, iBlog. So if you have a chance... hop on over and say hello.
Also, you can check out her photography blog here and site here. Cathy and her husband are both so talented and creative!

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails....

That's what little boys are made of!

I am completely smitten with my little C (as if you didn't already know that). Little boys are just so sweet and I find myself daydreaming about a house full of them!
I had such a great time designing the gender neutral nursery... and love everything that I selected. I am pretty sure I will not change a thing the next time around. But I do find myself thinking (and planning in my head) Collins' next room. I was looking around Serena and Lily and found so many things that I like.
While I don't want a 'theme'.... I love the idea of using fish or dogs in the decor. Both are so boyish and cute.... and can be used tastefully. These were two of my favorite images from the S&L catalog:

While I do not know which direction I will go (yes, I have plenty of time).... I had fun looking around at some options. Here are some other great things from their site that would be adorable in a little boy's room:

More from yesterday's house...

After seeing yesterday's post, a friend reminded me of Lindsey's house that was published in B-Metro (a local Birmingham magazine) this past spring. It was fun to look at the photos from this photo shoot vs. the ones in yesterday's post (which were the most recent) at the things that she changed up a bit. I also loved seeing a few additional photos.

Modern and Easy (in Birmingham)

I always love seeing houses from Birmingham that find their way onto the pages of a big publication. There seems to be so much design and talent coming from this Southern town.
Lindsey Bond's 1950 cottage is in the recent issue of House Beautiful- the Express Yourself issue. While it is more modern than my design style (that's another post for another day)... I've found myself soaking up the details of it. I love the neutral color palette with only a tiny bit of color and pattern- it's just enough to add some interest and not come across too cold or boring.

Living Large (in a little house)

I've been wanting to post this house ever since I saw it in the new Country Living. I think it's such a neat space- especially for a young, single (hence the pink) designer. While I love my life... I did allow myself to daydream and think that if I was single and lived on my own- that I might decorate a house something like this! As for my house... I will honor my husband's #1 request: no pink.

Below is her basement that serves as a wine cellar & dining room.

How much fun to devote a whole bedroom to be your dressing room/closet.

Two Images

I am sure that many of you are familiar with Courtney Giles from seeing her classic townhouse in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

I hopped over to her website to look at her portfolio and fell in love with these two spaces.
. Of the two, the one below has to be my favorite. It is inspiring a large gallery wall for our new house.
