a little vacay...

Michael and I just returned from spending a few days in Napa Valley. I had never been to the wine country... and let's just say that it has moved high on my list of places to visit again. I loved it. I sure missed Collins--- but it was great to get away for some R&R with Michael.

Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails....

That's what little boys are made of!

I am completely smitten with my little Collins (as if you didn't already know that). Little boys are just so sweet and I find myself daydreaming about a house full of them!

I had such a great time designing the gender neutral nursery... and love everything that I selected. I am pretty sure I will not change a thing the next time around. But I do find myself thinking (and planning in my head) Collins' next room. I was looking around Serena and Lily and found so many things that I like.

.

While I don't want a 'theme'.... I love the idea of using fish or dogs in the decor. Both are so boyish and cute.... and can be used tastefully. These were two of my favorite images from the S&L catalog:

More from yesterday's house...

After seeing yesterday's post, a friend reminded me of Lindsey's house that was published in B-Metro (a local Birmingham magazine) this past spring. It was fun to look at the photos from this photo shoot vs. the ones in yesterday's post (which were the most recent) at the things that she changed up a bit. I also loved seeing a few additional photos.

Modern and Easy (in Birmingham)

I always love seeing houses from Birmingham that find their way onto the pages of a big publication. There seems to be so much design and talent coming from this Southern town.

Lindsey Bond's 1950 cottage is in the recent issue of House Beautiful- the Express Yourself issue. While it is more modern than my design style (that's another post for another day)... I've found myself soaking up the details of it. I love the neutral color palette with only a tiny bit of color and pattern- it's just enough to add some interest and not come across too cold or boring.

Living Large (in a little house)

I've been wanting to post this house ever since I saw it in the new Country Living. I think it's such a neat space- especially for a young, single (hence the pink) designer. While I love my life... I did allow myself to daydream and think that if I was single and lived on my own- that I might decorate a house something like this! As for my house... I will honor my husband's #1 request: no pink.

Below is her basement that serves as a wine cellar & dining room.

How much fun to devote a whole bedroom to be your dressing room/closet.

I am sure that many of you are familiar with Courtney Giles from seeing her classic townhouse in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.
