Floating Sofa

I really like this living room designed by Bates Corkern Studio. After looking through my files there are very few rooms that have the sofas floating and not placed against a wall. I love how they handled the walkway and the wall behind. Definitely something I am going to keep in mind!

We had a floating sofa in our last home and it just worked with the layout of the plan. Since the new home is so similar in layout I think we will be having it again, but this time I will be adding a sofa table...or switching it up for a sectional for a more relaxed feel in the space. Sometimes you just have to play around with it in the space to get it right.

I always float my sofa and love it. I have a sofa table right behind with lamps now. LOVE this image.. the lamp on the chest is ROCKIN' and the panel above the door is beautiful.
The Bates Corkern team is so talented. They excel at the interiors as much as the architecture.
My sofa is floating, well actually I take that back I have my desk behind it- but its not against a wall and I love it that way- it breaks up a weird shaped room perfect!
My sofa is floated in our den and I love it! In fact, it looks a lot like that picture! M.

I adore the soft, earthy greens and that glorious round long pillow! Makes me want to curl up and read a book!

The floating sofa is just so perfect with the interior. And i like the idea of putting a mirror behind it. What's really nice about floating sofa is it's unique setting. It's unlike the typical living room setting we often see.
