nursery and big boy room

1.05.2012

The nursery here is pretty much Collins' nursery from Birmingham relocated. The new one is below (and yes... I repainted the lantern & crib. Had to tone it down a bit!). It is ready for Baby #2 who should make his or her arrival within the next week!

Collins has been staying in it for the past 6 months and just last week we moved him down the hall to his new big boy room. Even though he is still in a crib....I am going ahead and finishing the other parts of the room. It will have two Jenny Lind twin beds once he outgrows the crib. But for now... one twin bed is set up and the crib is on the other side.

Here is what I am going with:

Twin beds painted BM's Van Courtland Blue
Standard shams made out of the Doggy Days fabric
Bedskirts and Roman Shades out of the brown/cream ticking
cream quilts (have yet to find these!)*
BM White Dove on walls, trim, & ceiling
jute rug

Very simple but I think it will be great for a little boy. This room should be finished soon and I'll post a pic!

*love the pick stitch quilt from Pottery Barn but don't really want to pay $119 each

My friend in Baton Rouge found this one below for her little boy at Marshall's. I would LOVE to find two of these (looking for ivory/off white... just not a stark white)!

I've always loved that fabric. Can't wait to see his big boy room - it will be as precious as his nursery!

just sourced cream coverlets for twin beds. They were not cheap, but look way more expensive than they are - bed bath and beyond "Diamante Matelasse Coverlet - Ivory" they look very similar to the restoration hardware which I also love but they are a bit more "VINTAGE-WASHED DIAMOND MATELASSÉ COVERLET" Good luck!! We have a similar arrangement...baby girl came and moved into nursery, 21 month old (at the time) went into big boy room with a twin and a crib (with plans to replace with another twin). neutral rug, BM white dove on the trim. I also used cream quilts (that reverse to a more white shade), and I was able to find a pair of them at Tuesday Morning! I know their inventory obviously varies, but it could be worth a shot to check there. enjoy the remaining days with your only babe :)

I LOVE LOVE that doggie fabric. It's even cuter than the Premier Prints more muted dog fabric. Can't wait to see!

it was a while ago, but i found 2 good cream twin quilts at target. think i saw the same one in queen size recently, so i'm guessing they might still stock it. i'm no designer, but they were approved by a good friend who is one and used to work for mcalpine - you can trust her taste!

I agree regarding PB quilts. But I will say that I have that exact one from PB that is 6+ years old and it still looks great! I found mine at the outlet but would definitely order again.

I've been thinking about you a ton! I hope your comfortably hanging in there..these days get long!

Last week I whipped up a crib skirt for our crib #2. I just realized that it looks so much like yours...but definitely not as pretty and tailored. However, your drop cloth curtains were my inspiration. So thanks!

Can't wait to hear about new baby!
