my house :: a new room

I'm in the process of starting to think about the upstairs some more. The guest room is about 50% complete--- always work to do there. Collins' room is about 95% and Gray's is about 75%. And now there is a new nursery that I am working on. Yes... #3 is set to arrive early July. Once again... we will let the gender be a surprise!

We have a tiny room upstairs that is considered a bedroom because it has a closet and it will be perfect for the nursery for this next little one. I've started to think about his/her room and so far I have:

my house: formal living b&a

Several of you have emailed to say that you are patiently waiting to see photos of my house. I'll preface by saying that the house is unfinished (will it ever be finished?) and these photos are with my iphone.

Today I'll show you the formal living room. When you walked into the front foyer of the house you had the dining room on your left and the formal living room on your right. We made the dining room part of the kitchen (on the left) so on the right we decided to divide the formal living room in half and make it into a small dining room and an office for Michael. You'll see a faux fireplace in the before photos and the wall went up based off the center of it.

Virtual Yard Sale

I have a few things that I've been wanting to try and sale. My husband says it's time to clean out the overflowing design closet! I hope to have more things in the future but these are the things now that weren't used on a design project or a few fabrics that I had left over that I used in my house.

First off- I love a plywood table with a table skirt. It's a great way to have both storage and display but with not much cost. A fabric skirt is also a great way to bring in some color and pattern. The first one is one that I had in my Birmingham house. It's a linen fabric with a goldish metallic print.

instagram + foolproof + other happenings

I'm a big fan of Instagram these days. Love following my close friends along with design/blog friends and even a few people that I don't even know. Several IG friends have been cooking their way through Barefoot Contessa's new cookbook Foolproof. I made the penne alla vecchia bettola last night and it was delicious. I will say that I used crushed tomatoes instead of whole and skipped the blender step. You'll see in the second pic below why I needed to save as much time as possible. My sous-chef(s) were busy, busy!

We've been spending a lot of time outside lately with big brother riding little brother around in his new gator. Some days have been cold so we just bundle up!

It's really hard for me to believe that Gray will be one on Thursday of this week. We are having a {small} family party this weekend to celebrate with cupcakes!

 

Do you watch Downton Abbey? If you don't.... I highly recommend it. You can start with Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix or Hulu. Season 3 just started this past Sunday night.
